Narrator:
Two teens from the same school, different churches, had an accident.
Voice 1:
It wasn't serious. Just some dents.
Voice 2:
And scratched paint.
Voice 1:
So we didn't bother calling the police . . .
Voice 2:
Which was a mistake . . .
Voice 1:
Since there was no police report
Voice 2:
And each of us had a slightly different . . .
Voice 1:
uhh
Voice 2:
Significantly different . . .
Both:
Version of the accident.
Voice 2:
Someone advised me to take him to small claims court
Voice 1:
And I thought, no way! He's taking me to court?!
I can't afford a lawyer!
Narrator:
Concerned friends from both churches said,
"Let's help these guys see they have other options."
Voice 2:
So we sat down - with Don and Sue from my church.
Voice 1:
And Dave and Cheryl from my church.
Voice 2:
And we told our stories.
Voice 1:
We never did agree on what happened . . .
Voice 2:
But we did agree to put together the repair quotes . . .
Voice 1:
And split the bill.
Voice 2:
When they first asked me to go to mediation, I said no,
because I didn't know what to expect. But it helped
me see I had other options.
Voice 1:
And it saved me a whole lotta lawyers fees!
